Task 3
My Portfolio
My portfolio is being created in Unreal Engine 4 for the purpose of being an interactive showcase of my skills in the software. It not only is an example of what I can do, but also lets me directly incorporate examples of previous UI styles I made in other projects so there is no need for doubt with videos and the employers can use them first hand.
A problem with this however is making it easily accessible for employers to try and use. I could use a video provide the download link to it below if employers trust me enough to download and run it, but that would be sacrificing on convenience, something that should not happen considering that I have spoken a lot about having easy-to-use UX designs that can be used by anyone. To amend this, the best option would be exporting to HTML5 from UE4, and hosting that on a website so there isn't any download required. However after researching this, I have found that I cannot export to HTML5 without compiling the engine from its source with the HTML part enabled, something that isn't enabled in Epic Games' compiles due to its still alpha state.
Social Media Profiles
Artstation:
Artstation is a portfolio platform that lets artists and creatives show-off and share their work for others to see and interact with in a social media-like manner. It is also used as a form of professional portfolio to show to employers, and so keeping it professional and maintained is vital for a good impression.
I created my profile to both show my progression in the UI field (what I have learnt, changed, optimised, etc.), and to look at and follow other developers in the same field that I can get inspiration from and learn from.
I can use this in conjunction with my CV and personal statement to display examples of my work as proof of the written statements, giving the employers a look into my previous projects and personal projects to show how passionate and willing I am to create and share. Lots of the posts also explain my process or the blueprints of how they're made, so employers can see my workflow and if it will fit theirs, as well as line up with what's written in my CV and personal statement.
