Scoreboard

I wanted to create a scoreboard that didn't cover the middle of the screen like most other multiplayer FPS games do, so I instead took inspiration from Payday 2, where the information slides in to the sides of the screen instead of a box in the middle. It isn't really a scoreboard, but it does a good job at showing the information it needs to (like mission objective, pager count, body bag count, the payday, etc.). If I can find a way to create a scoreboard like this that shows the information it needs to and doesn't cover the middle of the screen (where the player is meant to be looking to shoot) then the player won't need to find a place of cover to see the scoreboard, it's just a quick glance up or the left/right (if it's up then that's where the player icons are so it accompanies showing which player is alive) and they can continue looking where they need to with it still showing. My initial idea was to have the basic stats of each player (kills, deaths, assists) come down from their icons, and then have a larger scoreboard show in the middle like before if players want a more in-depth showcase of stats. However I soon realised that this was not only more hassle than it's worth, but it's also much more complicated than it's worth. I took Fitts' Law and applied it to this problem, making sure that simplicity wasn't confusing, something my initial idea was. I instead chose to scrap the more detailed scoreboard in favour of slightly more info in the vertical list from the player icons but still making them not interfere with gameplay too much. It's always nice to see player stats and such in a scoreboard, but in this case I feel simpler = better.

Replacing the "KILLS" and "DEATHS" text with icons will make a lot more sense from a glance as that's what this scoreboard is trying to accomplish, make it easy to see information from a glance instead of finding cover and looking at a normal scoreboard. However I also thought to have the icons on the left of the numbers, in its own vertical box under the team score.

I decided to redesign the entire top information panel, as before it was horizontal boxes and text positioned to their top centre anchors, making it harder to add new elements like the scoreboard underneath. However now, they're all in a Grid Panel, which makes adding new rows as easy as clicking a button.

After creating this:

I decided it was too much to have a row title for each team, so instead made them one down the middle.

This also then gave me room to add the round wins and losses for each team under their score.

After making this however, I quickly realised that it looked terrible, so instead had a horizontal bar like CS:GO and Valorant.

This looks a lot better, however I still need to make it modular as currently I have to manually add loads of image components to it and place them in the right columns and rows, which is not good or fun at all. So a better way will need to be found. But until then, this will suffice.
